We engage in basic advocacy all the time — ranging from reaching out to senators and congresspeople, holding seminars for the community, engaging in protests, and various other activities. For more information, check out this disability organizing resource from freeourpeople.net
What are our issues?

Transportation Equity
Only 24% percent of New York City subway stations are fully wheelchair accessible. The Long Island Railroad only has 108 out of 124 accessible stations. Even worse, only 79 Metro-North Stations are accessible out of 124 stations total. Check out what our chapter of ADAPT is doing to combat systemic ableism in our state’s transportation system.

Medicaid and CDPA
Thousands of New Yorkers rely on Medicaid’s home and community based services to be able to live independently in the community and not be forced into an institution. Join DNY ADAPT’s fight to keep Medicaid and home care funded, valued, and available to all in NYS.

Nursing Home Diversion and Transition
New Yorkers locked away in institutions deserve the right to live in the community with dignity and access. Join DNY ADAPT’s fight to help ensure disabled New Yorkers can transition back to their own homes.

Voter Engagement
Disabled New Yorkers experience voter suppression at every election. Join our campaign that advocates for voting access and voting education for all.
